The Khavaran-Nameh, preserved in the Palace-Golestan Museum, is one of the most valuable works of Iranian painting in the Shiraz art school and during the Turkmen period. The poems of this version were composed by the poet of the 9th century AH, Ibn-Hosam Khusfi, and its content is a description of the bravery of Imam Ali (AS) and his companions in the lands of the East. From the perspective of Iranian-Islamic art, painting has a role beyond illustration and decoration and acts as a visual language for reflecting literary, religious, and moral concepts. The relationship between text and image in illustrated versions demonstrates the precise coordination between verbal narration and visual expression. A comparative study of text and image in illustrated works provides the opportunity to examine how literary themes are recreated in a visual context and analyze the artistic methods of painters, and indicates the importance of painting in conveying concepts and creating interaction between art and literature. Accordingly, the present study aims to compare the relationship between text and image in the illustrated version of Khavaran-Nameh (the version preserved in the and also to identify the methods of representing literary concepts in visual form and seeks to answer the following question: How has the correspondence between text and image been made in the illustrations of the illustrated version of Khavaran-Nameh? The present study is of a fundamental type that is conducted in a descriptive-analytical manner and with a comparative approach and its data has been collected using a documentary method. The research population includes 15 illustrations from the illustrated version of Khavaran-Nameh that have been analyzed and compared using a qualitative method and the results of 4 examples of the selected illustrations have been presented in the study and the rest have been evaluated in the final tables.
