Abstract

This article tries to study the discourse of "Ferāqi" in South-Khorasan to explore people's beliefs, intents and purposes of singing them. “Ferāqies ", which are sung in the pain of separation of all things that people have a sense of belonging to, include different themes. In the present descriptive article, just two contents are selected and analyzed: "homesickness" and "separation". In these " Ferāqies ", the following beliefs are reflected: religious thinking about death, curse, benediction, union of Muslims as brothers, respecting older people, love of country, love between a mother and her child, experiencing loneliness and desperation and so on. Since technology has changed the life style of people, the young people don’t care about these “Ferāqies” anymore. So it is necessary to introduce, record, and analyze this oral culture to prevent its fading away.
